Billing
Plans and billing
What each plan costs, and exactly what happens when you subscribe, change plan, pause, cancel, miss a payment, buy a pack or ask for a refund. Every price and limit below is read from the configuration the API enforces.
Plans
Billed monthly, in US dollars. Every plan uses the same API key; changing plan changes what that key is allowed to do.
| Plan | Price | Requests a month | Requests a minute |
|---|---|---|---|
| Explorer | Free | 200 | 10 |
| Builder | $29 a month | 25,000 | 60 |
| Studio | $79 a month | 150,000 | 120 |
| Enterprise | $249 a month | 1,000,000 | 300 |
- There is no annual price and no trial.
- Promotion codes are accepted at checkout.
- The per-plan limits in full, and what each endpoint requires, are on the rate limits page.
Subscribing
- Without a saved card, you subscribe on Stripe's hosted checkout page.
- With a saved card, the subscription is created straight away and confirmed in the page, which is where your bank's 3D Secure check appears if it asks for one.
- If you already have a paid plan, choosing another one changes your plan rather than starting a second subscription.
Changing plan
| If you | What happens |
|---|---|
| Moving up | Charged straight away for the rest of the current period. The new plan starts once that charge is paid; if the card is declined, you stay where you are. |
| Moving down | Takes effect straight away. The unused part of your current plan is credited against your next invoice. |
| Before you confirm | The console shows what the change will cost. |
| Moving to Explorer | Not a plan change: cancel instead. |
| With a cancellation pending | Changing plan withdraws the cancellation. |
Pausing
A pause delays one renewal payment; it does not waive it. You keep your plan's access throughout, and the held payment is taken in full when the pause ends.
| Rule | What happens |
|---|---|
| How long | 1 to 14 days, counted from your renewal date. |
| When | Only in the 7 days before a renewal. |
| How often | Once every 90 days, counted from the start of the last pause. |
| What it needs | A saved card. Not available while a payment is overdue, a cancellation is pending, or the plan is already paused. |
| Resuming early | The held payment is taken straight away. |
Cancelling
- Cancelling takes effect at the end of the period you have paid for; until then you keep your plan.
- You can undo a cancellation any time before that date. After it, subscribe again.
- If you need the plan to end now rather than at the end of the period, ask us: an immediate cancellation is made by our team, ends paid access straight away, and does not by itself refund the rest of the period. A refund is decided separately, as below.
- When the plan ends, your account moves to Explorer. Your API keys keep working at Explorer's limits and are never deleted, so subscribing again needs no new key.
When a payment fails
- Your plan keeps working while Stripe retries the card, and we email you with the date of the next attempt.
- A successful retry, or a new card, restores everything and we email you to say so.
- If the retries run out, the subscription ends and the account moves to Explorer.
Cards
- Cards are entered in Stripe's own payment form. Card details never reach our servers.
- Your first card becomes the default. You can add cards, choose the default and remove cards from the console.
- The last card on an active subscription cannot be removed; add another first.
Invoices and receipts
- The console lists every subscription invoice and store receipt on one page, newest first, each with a PDF.
- Subscription invoices are titled Tax invoice and store purchases Receipt. Stripe's own invoice and its numbering remain the record of the charge.
- A purchase that cost nothing has no receipt.
Store purchases
- Silhouette packs are one-off payments on Stripe's checkout page, in US dollars.
- An active paid plan takes each pack's subscriber discount off the price. A plan that is overdue does not count.
- You cannot buy a pack you already own. Every purchase stays downloadable from Purchases in the console.
Refunds
- Subscriptions are billed in advance and renew automatically. Cancelling keeps your plan until the period ends; partial periods are not refunded unless the law requires it.
- Other subscription refunds are considered case by case: write to us within 30 days of the charge.
- Store packs are generally not refundable once downloading has begun. A faulty pack, or one that is not as described, is repaired, replaced or refunded.
- Your statutory rights, including under Australian Consumer Law and the EU and UK rules on digital content, are not affected.
