Manufacturers & rights holders
If you make, own the rights to, or represent a firearm that appears in this catalog, this page is for you: what we publish, what you can ask us to change or take down, how to send the request, how quickly we answer, and what happens on the platform once we act. The addresses and windows here are the ones our policies commit to.
- 3business days to acknowledge
- 10business days to decide
- 2business days to act on a copyright notice
What we publish about your products
GunSpec is a reference: a structured record per firearm, compiled from published sources and served to developers through an API and on gunspec.io. We are not affiliated with any manufacturer and do not claim to be.
- Specifications: dimensions, weights, action, capacity, materials, dates, in one shape across the catalog. Each carries its source and a confidence score; see how a record earns its place.
- Names and model designations, used to identify the product. Nothing on a record implies endorsement, partnership or official status.
- Drawings we make ourselves: a line-art silhouette per firearm and scale cartridge and bullet illustrations, described on the media page.
- Photographs and other imagery, each with the source and licence we hold for it. Where we cannot show provenance, we show the silhouette instead.
- Derived figures we label as ours: game-balance stats and a composite power rating, computed from the specification and never attributed to you.
What you can ask for
Six kinds of request, each handled by one address. A correction is welcome from anyone; a removal needs the standing to ask for it.
| Request | What happens | Send to |
|---|---|---|
| Remove a photograph | A copyright notice to our designated agent. The image is disabled within 2 business days of a complete notice, then reviewed. The record stays, showing its silhouette. | dmca@buungroup.com |
| Remove a logo or mark | The mark comes down from the manufacturer page and any record that shows it; the name stays as plain text, since identifying the product is not a use of the mark. | legal@buungroup.com |
| Withdraw a firearm record | Considered where a legal basis exists: a court order, a privacy or safety concern, or a product that was never released. A record of a product on the market is a reference we normally keep; we will explain a refusal. | legal@buungroup.com |
| Correct a specification | Point us at the figure and the published source that contradicts it. Verified corrections ship in the next data release; the record's version moves and every subscriber is told. | legal@buungroup.com |
| Delete personal data | A named designer or an individual in a record's history: a data-subject request under the GDPR or the Australian Privacy Principles, handled as the Privacy Policy describes. | legal@buungroup.com |
| Supply official material | Datasheets, imagery under licence, or a nightly export from your product system. Your data replaces what we compiled and is marked as yours. | legal@buungroup.com |
How to send a request
One email to legal@buungroup.com with the details below. No form, no account, no ticket to open. Copyright notices go to the designated agent instead, described in the next section.
- 1Identify the page or asset exactly: the URL, and the record or image id it carries. A request we cannot locate is a request we cannot act on.
- 2Say what you are asking for and on what basis: your ownership of the work or the mark, a legal order, the published figure that contradicts ours, or a privacy right.
- 3Say who you are and for whom you act. Where you act for a brand, we may ask for confirmation from a company address before we withdraw content.
- 4We acknowledge within 3 business days with a reference, and decide, or ask for what is missing, within 10 business days of that. Where we refuse, we say why, and you may escalate to the address on the policy page.

Copyright notices
A photograph, illustration or text you own the copyright to is handled under our DMCA policy: a written notice to the designated agent at dmca@buungroup.com. A complete notice is acted on within 2 business days: the material is disabled first and reviewed after.
- 1Identify the copyrighted work, and the material on GunSpec you say infringes it, with a direct URL.
- 2Give your name, address, email and phone, and a physical or electronic signature.
- 3State that you believe in good faith the use is not authorised by the owner, its agent, or the law.
- 4State, under penalty of perjury, that the notice is accurate and that you are the owner or authorised to act for the owner.
A notice that knowingly misrepresents infringement can carry liability under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f). Where material was removed by mistake, a counter-notice to the same address restores it after the statutory wait. The photo template above carries every element a valid notice needs.
What happens after a withdrawal
A withdrawal is a change to the catalog like any other, so it reaches every consumer through the same mechanisms.
- 1The record or asset is removed from the database and the asset store. The endpoints answer
404for the record from that moment; see the error reference. - 2Every API subscriber to catalog events receives a
firearm.deletedwebhook carrying the id, so a mirror deletes its copy without polling. - 3Cached copies expire on their own schedule, described on the caching page: a record within 1 hour at the edge, a list or search that included it within 1 hour, a social card image within 7 days. We purge our own edge on removal; caches beyond it we cannot reach.
- 4Search engines re-crawl on their own schedule. A withdrawn page answers a real 404, which is what removes it from an index.
Work with us instead
Most manufacturers who write to us end up wanting the record right rather than gone. Two ways in.
- Verified data. Send datasheets, or a nightly export from your product system, to legal@buungroup.com. Your figures replace what we compiled, carry your name as the source, and reach every integration built on the API.
- Licensed imagery. Grant us the use of your product photography and it appears with your credit on every record, in place of the silhouette.
- Sell through the catalog. Retailers on the Enterprise plan list where to buy on the records they stock, described at gunspec.io/sellers and in the seller reference. No listing fee, no commission.
