Record checks
The rules every catalogue record is held to, run daily and published with what each one found: every file against its schema, no company catalogued twice, and no firearm whose fields cannot all be true at once.
What it asks
Every firearm, caliber, manufacturer, platform and ammunition file is validated against its JSON Schema, including every value that must come from a published vocabulary.
No company may be catalogued under two ids, because a maker split across two records has its firearms split across two pages.
Each firearm is checked for fields that contradict each other: a rimfire cartridge in a locked short-recoil action, a revolver with a slide, an accessory rail on a gun that went out of production before rails existed. Each field may be right on its own; together they cannot be. These rules only catch the impossible, so a plausible wrong figure passes them and is left to the source checks.

What happens to a finding
- Every run is published here as it happened, failures included, before anyone has looked at it.
- Each run is also kept as a report that lists what was fixed since the run before, what is new and what is still open, so progress is measured finding by finding rather than claimed.
- No check edits the catalogue. A finding goes to a person, who corrects the record by hand and cites what the correction rests on; the next run confirms it.
- A check id is never renamed, so a link to one keeps meaning the same question.
