Link checks
Whether the links the catalogue publishes still lead where they claim: every manufacturer website and every source a firearm, caliber or platform record cites. A suite asks each one once a week and publishes the answer here, broken links and all.
What it asks
A link fails when the page is gone: a 404 or 410, a domain that no longer resolves, a shop its platform has closed, or a deep link that now lands on a "not found" page or on the site's front page.
It also fails when something answers that is not what was cited. Domains lapse, and a lapsed manufacturer domain is bought and turned into a casino, a betting review or a parking page. A reader following our link to a gun maker must never land there, so a page like that is its own finding.
A manufacturer website that now redirects to another domain is reported as moved: it still works for a reader and is still a stale record.
A site that refuses an automated reader or does not answer in time is counted as unverified. It is never counted as passing, and never as broken.

What happens to a finding
- Every run is published here as it happened, failures included, before anyone has looked at it.
- Each run is also kept as a report that lists what was fixed since the run before, what is new and what is still open, so progress is measured finding by finding rather than claimed.
- No check edits the catalogue. A finding goes to a person, who corrects the record by hand and cites what the correction rests on; the next run confirms it.
- A check id is never renamed, so a link to one keeps meaning the same question.
